Just like any joint in the body, the TMJ can have joint and muscle dysfunction. The TMJ is about the size of your pinky nail, but it is one of the most complex joints in the body. It consists of the condyle of your mandible, a disc, and the base of your temporalis bone. What makes this joint so complex is that there is articulation with the condyle and the disc, as well as the disc and the temporalis, two joints in one. And this joint is highly affected by how your head rests on your neck.
